India advanced to the quarter-finals
India has advanced to the quarter-finals of the ongoing ICC World Cup in
New Zealand and Australia after registering another easy win over the
West Indies. The Indian batsmen surpassed the target chase of 183 runs
posted by West Indies in 39.1 overs at the expense of 6 wickets. Before
this, taking to bat in the first inning, West Indies were all out in
44.2 overs managing to post 182 runs. The Indies batsmen, who were in a
shaky disposition from the beginning, had Jason Holder contributing 57
runs for the team. Indian bowler Muhammad Shami took three wickets in
this inning. The Indian team, which has been on a winning streak since
its first match of the tournament, has looked in form so far. It had
registered comprehensive victories over Pakistan, South Africa and the
UAE before this, while West Indies had won only two out of the four
matches it has played before this in the competition.
