Go Green and Save the Environment with Solar Power Bank.

In today’s hyper-connected world, staying powered up is essential. Whether you're commuting, traveling, camping, or simply navigating an unexpected power outage, one tool can make a big difference: the solar power bank. As we strive for more sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyles, this innovative device is gaining rapid popularity — and for good reason.

What is a Solar Power Bank?

A solar power bank is a portable charging device that stores energy from the sun using built-in solar panels. Like traditional power banks, it can charge smartphones, tablets, cameras, and other USB-powered gadgets — but its real advantage lies in its ability to recharge using sunlight, making it incredibly useful when you're off the grid or in emergency situations.

Why Solar Power Banks Matter

1. Eco-Friendly Energy Source

The most obvious benefit is sustainability. Solar power is a clean, renewable energy source. By harnessing the sun’s rays, you’re reducing your reliance on electricity generated from fossil fuels. It's a small step that, when multiplied by millions of users, can have a meaningful environmental impact.

2. Emergency Preparedness

Whether it’s a natural disaster, a blackout, or simply being stranded in a remote area, having a solar power bank ensures you’ll still be able to charge essential devices. It’s a must-have for emergency kits, particularly in regions prone to hurricanes, wildfires, or earthquakes.

3. Perfect for Travel and Outdoor Adventures

If you enjoy hiking, camping, or backpacking, a solar power bank can be a lifesaver. It eliminates the need to find a wall socket in remote areas. With access to sunlight, you can keep your phone GPS active, charge a headlamp, or stay connected in case of emergencies.

4. Cost-Effective in the Long Run

While solar power banks may cost a bit more upfront than traditional models, they pay for themselves over time by reducing dependence on electricity. You’re not just saving energy — you're saving money.

5. Portable and User-Friendly

Today’s solar power banks are compact, lightweight, and easy to carry in a backpack or glove compartment. Some models even come with added features like waterproofing, LED flashlights, wireless charging, or multiple USB ports, enhancing their versatility.

Choosing the Right Solar Power Bank

When shopping for one, consider the following:

  • Battery capacity: Measured in mAh, this determines how many times it can recharge your devices.

  • Durability: Look for waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof designs for outdoor use.

  • Additional features: Built-in flashlight, compass, or wireless charging may come in handy depending on your needs.

Final Thoughts

In a world increasingly aware of environmental issues and personal connectivity, the solar power bank stands out as a practical, green, and empowering solution. It's not just a gadget — it's a smart investment in energy independence, sustainability, and preparedness.

Whether you're an eco-conscious traveler, a daily commuter, or someone simply planning for the unexpected, having a solar power bank by your side is no longer just a luxury — it’s a necessity.

Five Films That Children and Parents Should Watch Together – And What They Can Learn from Them

Films, often referred to as a visual language, naturally attract children. They are able to grasp many concepts simply through visuals. As such, film becomes a powerful medium to teach and guide children in the right direction. That’s why certain films have been created specifically to positively influence a child’s psychology.

1. Piper
Piper is a short animated film by Pixar that beautifully captures the story of a baby sandpiper learning to overcome fear. Through stunning animation and no dialogue, it teaches valuable lessons about courage, perseverance, and learning through experience — making it a perfect film for children and parents to enjoy and reflect on together.

Let me know if you'd like a rewrite of the rest of the list as well.

2. Bao

Bao is a 2018 Pixar short film that tells a heartwarming and emotional story about family, love, and the art of letting go.

The film centers around a Chinese-Canadian mother who feels lonely in her quiet, empty life. One day, a steamed bun (bao) she prepares magically comes to life and turns into a child.

This bao-child brings joy to her life. She loves and cares for him like her own son. As he grows, he begins to seek independence — wanting to spend time with friends and explore the world outside. However, the mother struggles to accept this change.

Her fear and desire to control him lead to a dramatic moment where she ends up swallowing the bao. This symbolic act reflects her emotional conflict. Eventually, it's revealed that the bao was a metaphor for her real son, who has now grown up and left home.

The story teaches the mother to let go and accept her son’s independence. In the end, their bond is rekindled as they make bao together once more. This film helps children understand the value of family and deep love, while encouraging parents to respect their children's growing independence. Its cultural depth and touching animation make it a special experience.

3. The Present

The Present is a 2014 animated short that shares a powerful story about friendship, acceptance, and hope.

It follows a teenage boy who spends most of his time playing video games. One day, his mother gives him a small puppy as a gift. However, the puppy is missing one leg, which upsets the boy. He initially rejects the dog and mocks its disability.

Despite this, the puppy remains cheerful and tries to play. Gradually, its joy and energy begin to melt the boy’s heart. The story takes a surprising turn when the boy stands up using crutches, revealing that he himself has only one leg.

This twist shows that his rejection of the puppy was rooted in his own insecurities. The puppy’s positivity inspires him to accept himself. In the end, he goes outside to play with the dog, both filled with new enthusiasm.

The film teaches children to embrace differences in others and love themselves. Without any dialogue, it delivers a profound message. Its vibrant animation and emotional storytelling make it easy for even young children to understand and appreciate.

4. For the Birds

Released in 2000, For the Birds is a humorous Pixar short that offers a lesson on teamwork and acceptance.

It features a group of small birds having fun on an electric wire, constantly teasing and bickering among themselves. One day, a large, goofy-looking bird comes to sit with them. The smaller birds mock and try to push him away.

Despite their bullying, the big bird remains calm. They devise a plan to force him off the wire, but it backfires. The wire snaps, launching all the small birds into the air, stripping them of their feathers, and leaving them embarrassed.

Meanwhile, the big bird remains safe and laughs. The film teaches children not to judge others based on appearance and to work together harmoniously.

Its comedic visuals and lively animation make it fun for kids. With no dialogue, its message is simple and clear. The small birds’ behavior and its consequences encourage children to be kind and respectful to others. It delivers an important moral lesson through humor.

5. Partly Cloudy

Released in 2009, Partly Cloudy is a heart-touching Pixar short that tells a story about friendship and selfless dedication.

In the film's world, clouds create babies—human babies, puppies, kittens, and more—and storks deliver them to Earth. One particular gray cloud, however, makes less cuddly creatures like crocodiles, porcupines, and baby sharks.

His loyal stork partner bravely delivers these difficult babies, despite the risks and injuries. Though the stork sometimes gets hurt, he continues to return, showing deep friendship and dedication.

Eventually, the stork briefly leaves and returns wearing protective gear, ready to keep helping the cloud. This act shows the strength of their bond and the power of unwavering support.

Partly Cloudy teaches children about true friendship, loyalty, and embracing responsibilities, even when things are tough. Its expressive animation and imaginative concept make it engaging for all ages. It reminds viewers that every bond, no matter how difficult, thrives with care and commitment.

Those who trained AI ended up losing their jobs to AI in Microsoft

Leading information technology company Microsoft has recently laid off a number of employees. According to reports, around 6,000 employees at Microsoft have lost their jobs.

It's not unusual for companies to hire or lay off staff based on workload, labor demand and supply, and other operational factors. However, in Microsoft’s case, something quite unusual has happened. A large number of those laid off were software engineers. According to Bloomberg, around 40% of the layoffs from the company’s Washington branch were software engineers. Ironically, the very engineers who trained AI systems are now losing their jobs due to AI itself.

A few months ago, Microsoft had directed its engineers to increase the use of AI tools. The company had asked these engineers to rely more heavily on AI. But now, it's this reliance on AI that has cost many of them their jobs. According to a report by The Information, Microsoft Vice President Jeff Hens had instructed his team to use OpenAI's chatbot to generate about 50% of the computing code. His team had about 400 members, and months after this directive, the largest impact of the layoffs was felt by this very group.

This has raised the question: did these engineers end up training their own replacements?

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is known to be very vocal about AI. According to him, AI is already writing up to two-thirds of the code in certain Microsoft projects. However, these changes have posed significant challenges for those who lost their jobs.

These layoffs haven’t just affected lower-level coders. Even positions in product management and technical program management have been impacted.

In reality, one of the primary reasons behind Microsoft's latest round of layoffs is the increasing dependence on AI. The company says it is streamlining operations by reducing managerial layers.

Despite a strong quarterly revenue report from January to March, Microsoft is continuing with its workforce reduction. Even Microsoft's Director of AI, Gabriela de Queiroz, was affected by the layoffs. She revealed this in a post on LinkedIn.

She wrote:
"I'm sharing a few bittersweet updates. I, too, have been impacted by Microsoft’s recent layoffs. Was this expected? Maybe not. In today’s environment, no matter how hard you work, how much you advocate for your company, or how much change you drive, you are not immune to organizational restructuring."

Man sentenced to death for killing ex-wife during live video

On Thursday, a Chinese man was given the death penalty for setting his ex-wife on fire as she was live streaming to her digital followers, concluding a murder case that gained national attention.

The victim, a 30-year-old farmer and Vlogger Lhamo lived in south eastern Sichuan province. Last September, while she was streaming a live video of herself, a man stepped in, poured gasoline on her, and put her on fire. Two weeks later, she passed away in hospital.

Tang Lu, her ex-husband, was arrested shortly after the incident. According to state-run broadcaster CCTV, he was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to death, and and also required to pay compensation.

According to CCTV, the court judged his crime "very harsh" and "deserves severe punishment."
Tang had a history of physical abuse toward Lhamo, allegedly assaulting her numerous times before their divorce in June 2020. In the months that followed, he regularly approached her and wanted to remarry, but she refused, culminating to the murder.
The case received widespread coverage in national and international media, drawing attention to the heinous nature of Lhamo's death while also increasing awareness of China's issues with women violence.
China approved a contentious rule mandating couples who want to divorce to go through a month-long "cooling off" period just months before her death, sparking concerns that it might jeopardize victims of abuse and hinder them from leaving a relationship that could be improved.

10 Super Ideas to Speed Up Your Old Smartphones

5 ways to tune up Apple Phone

1. Install the most recent version of iOS.
It may seem self-evident, but having the most recent operating system on your phone makes a significant difference. Apple not only adds new features with each iteration, but also enhances the general performance of the device: As the iOS 14.5 release demonstrates. Go to Settings -> General -> Software Update to see whether there's a new update available.

2. Dim the lights.
Visual effects and animations may appear appealing, but they consume a significant amount of system resources. When you switch them off, you'll notice a slight increase in speed. To begin, disable the parallax effect for the icons and notifications. Reduce Motion may be found under Settings -> Accessibility -> Motion. Next you should reduce the transparency effect by going to Settings -> Accessibility -> Display & Text Size, and turn on Reduce Transparency.

3. Disable the Background App Refresh feature.
To save you time, certain programs will automatically download updates. Email apps, on the other hand, frequently retrieve emails automatically so that they are available in the inbox before you launch the program. These background programs consume not only data but also the resources of your phone. Switch your phone to Low Data Mode to disable them. Turn on Low Data Mode in Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Options.

4. No, Siri, I'm not interested.
Though Siri is quite useful, certain of its features may cause iPhones to slow down (especially older ones). Siri can make suggestions depending on your phone's usage, but this might eat up battery life. Turn it off by going to Settings -> Siri & Search -> Turn off all Siri Suggestions. Also turn off the feature that can wake up Siri with the command– “Hey Siri”. On the same screen turn off “Listen for “Hey Siri”.

5. Remove any programs you don't want.
Another cause of poor performance on your phone could be a lack of storage. For optimal performance, you should leave at least 10% of your phone's storage free. For a detailed look into how your phone's storage is being used, go to Settings -> General -> Storage. Delete useless apps, old messages, and other information like music and images to free up some space.

5 ways to make your Android phone run faster

1. Restart the phone.
This is a simple trick that actually works. You don't have to restart your phone all the time, but it's a good idea once in a while. Restarting your phone clears the memory and can often resolve issues with rowdy apps. Hold down the power button until the restart option displays.

2. Delete the cache
Apps create a trail on your phone, which can eat up RAM over time. As a result, there is less RAM available to execute other operations, and your phone may feel slow. To delete these traces, go to Settings -> Storage -> Cache and check the box next to the notification asking if you want to delete the cache partition.

3. Turn off animations
Visual effects and animations, as previously said, may appear to be appealing, but they are memory hogs. Reduce the quantity of animations or turn them off entirely to speed things up. Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap Build Number till Developer Options is enabled. Return to Settings -> Developer Options -> Windows Animation Scale -> Animations off to turn off animations.

4. Delete obsolete mobile applications
Remove any programs that you haven't used in a long time. They will take up space on your phone and cause it to slow down. Once you've whittled down your list of apps to the ones you actually use, make sure they're up to date. Companies address problems that might otherwise hinder the app's performance with each release.

5. Install Custom Rom
It's possible that a phone's manufacturer put their own ROM over Android, which is why your phone is slow. You should test out a few custom ROMs if you're comfortable with tinkering with your phone. Third-party ROMs such as Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher can not only modify the look of your phone's software, but they can also make it run faster.

Ultimate Option
If none of the preceding methods succeed in speeding up your phone, there is one more thing you can do as a last option. You can conduct a factory reset on your smartphone, which will restore it to its original state.
Because the factory reset will erase everything on the phone, you must back up your data before proceeding. Go to Settings -> Apple ID -> Back Up Now on an iPhone. Go to Settings -> System -> Advanced -> Reset Options -> Erase All Data (Factory Reset) -> Reset Phone on an Android device.

PM Oli stops labourers from going home

Throughout the shutdown, authorities in different districts around Kathmandu have started stopping people walking the streets on their way home from urban areas like Kathmandu.
In the wake of the rising number of cases of coronavirus infection, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had ordered the authorities to strictly enforce the lockdown restrictions earlier Friday.
Scores had left Kathmandu before this after being stripped of their work during the lockdown. Most trucks and other vehicles have had some of them brought.
Yet, with orders from the prime minister, security personnel have halted hundreds of walks in Kavre, Dhading, and Chitwan districts among others. "We barred anyone from walking on the streets except in emergency situations," says Kavre Chief District Officer Shrawan Kumar Timalsina, "There are a few people coming in, but we stopped them wherever they arrive in coordination with local authorities." He says the district officials are working with their counterparts in the Kathmandu Valley to stop them in the valley.
Directive of the prime minister had come only a few hours after the Supreme Court had directed the government to help those walkers safely reach their destinations.
