International Women's Day
Today is International Women's Day. The day, also called as
International Working Women's Day was also celebrated across Nepal
organizing various programs. Under the leadership of Ministry of Women,
Children and Social Welfare, a massive rally was organized from Bhrikuti
Mandap earlier this morning. Women holding placards that mentioned the
main slogan- 'Gender friendly constitution: an end to violence against
women', participated in the rally. All around the world, International
Women's Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of
women while calling for greater equality. The first International
Women's Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the
economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations,
governments, charities, educational institutions, women's groups,
corporations and the media celebrate the day.
