Meanwhile, Nepal Medical Association has declared to halt OPD services
at all the health institution across Nepal from tomorrow, saying the
government was dillydallying to address demands of Professor Dr. Govind
K.C., who has been staging fast-unto-death for the past ten days.
Organizing an assembly at the premises of Teaching Hospital today, the
Association declared to halt all the health services except emergency in
both government and private health institutions across the country.
Raising voice against mafia activities ongoing in health and education
sectors, Association Chairman Anjani Kumar Jha, speaking at the
assembly, attributed the Association's decision to halt health services
across the nation to the government showing indifference to fulfill Dr.
K.C.'s demands for a long time. Chairman Jha warned to close down
emergency services as well if Dr. K.C.'s demands are not addressed
within 48 hours.
The Association announced about the agitation programmes after agreement
could not be forged between government's talk team and representatives
of Dr.K.C. despite the day-long meeting. Meanwhile, health condition of
Dr.K.C. has been deteriorating further. Dr. Dibya Shah has informed that
Dr. K.C.'s blood pressure has extremely reduced and that problems like
head-ache and nausea were seen. It is learnt that agreement could not be
forged on the demand of resignation and termination of TU office
bearers along with Health Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav.
