Prime Minister says ongoing agitations are posing danger to country's existence
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has stated that the strikes and agitations
being enforced under pretext of various constitutional issues including
federal demarcation had created danger to the very existence of the
country itself. Accepting the memorandum presented by various political
parties of Sarlahi today, Prime Minister Koirala said the ongoing
agitations had posed danger on the democracy achieved from different
struggles and sacrifice and the very existence of the nation. Saying the
present hour was an opportune moment to institutionalise the democratic
system, he said the opportunity could not be forsaken under any
circumstance. BITE... Claiming on the promulgation of a constitution
that would uphold the spirit of everyone, he appealed the protesting
sides to stop all forms of agitation and join the constitution making
process. He expressed grievance on the environment of investment that
was derogating due to political instability. He opined that initiative
from all sectors was necessary on alleviation of poverty through use of
natural resources. The political parties had submitted the memorandum to
the PM with demand for a federal structure of five states. Similarly,
the National United Front has suggested the PM to endorse the
constitution by mentioning the total square area and borders of Nepal.
Contributing to the PM's Disaster Relief Fund today were Forward
Community Micro-Finance Group and Kathmandu Development Bank who
deposited Rs. 1 million and 700 thousand respectively.
