The novel coronavirus has been tested positive across three Indian people currently staying in Birgunj, a border town of Nepal. With this, the number of positive cases of coronavirus has reached 12 in Nepal.
An official at the Ministry of Health says the infection was confirmed in them by the National PublicHealth Laboratory in Kathmandu. Earlier in Hetauda, too, their swabs were tested in a new laboratory.
The positive cases had also been tested in the Hetaunda clinic.The swab samples of 24 Indian nationals had been obtained by officials in Birgunj on Thursday. Locals claim they came to town about two weeks ago.
They had however come to Nepal in February
for a religious ceremony in the district of Saptari.
After a few days they were supposed to return
to India but were stuck there because of the lockdown. After confirmation of the infection, on Friday, those residing in Jame Mosque in Chhapakaiya, Birgunj2 were moved to Narayani Hospital's isolation.
One of the infected is from New Delhi, the
Indian capital, while two others come from Uttar Pradesh.
