Bishwacup Cricket Update-
New Zealand emerged victorious in the clash of host nations Australia
and New Zealand in their match played today towards the ICC World Cup.
The Black Caps registered a thrilling victory against the Aussies by one
wicket. Batting first, Australia could only manage 151 runs in 32.2
overs. The Aussies had lost nine wickets with 109 runs on the
scoreboard, while the 10th wicket partnership of 45 runs helped them
manage a relatively respectable total. Trent Boult picked up five
wickets for New Zealand while Tim Southee and Daniel Vittori picked two
wickets each. Chasing the target, New Zealand looked quite comfortable
at the beginning of their innings. However, loss of wickets at regular
intervals gave an interesting twist to the match. The Black Caps managed
to chase the target in 23.1 overs losing nine wickets. Ken Williams was
unbeaten at 42 runs from 45 balls while Mitchel Stark picked six
wickets for 26 runs to help the Aussies make a comeback in the match.
Having won four out of four matches in the tournament, New Zealand have
reached a step closer to the quarterfinals. Elsewhere, defending
champions India have continued with their 100% record in the tournament.
India got better of associate nation United Arab Emirates by nine
wickets. The target of 109 runs was chased by the Indians in 18.5 overs
losing just one wicket. England take on Sri Lanka while Pakistan face
Zimbabwe in the matches scheduled for tomorrow.
