It is learnt the political parties are engaged in discussions aimed at
endorsing the constitution on May 29. According to a source, with
understanding that the failure to promulgate the constitution even by
May 29 would lead to more confusion in the country, the parties have
been holding informal talks with probability of reaching a conclusive
point soon. Meanwhile, Constituent Assembly Chair Subash Nemwang has
claimed that the constitution making process would witness a decisive
point at the next meeting of the CA. Talking to media-persons at his own
office in Singha Durbar today, Nemwang said the CA meeting, after being
summoned, would not be postponed indefinitely henceforth. Saying the
status quo could continue till infinity, he added that the meeting would
only be deferred after reaching a concrete point now.
The current year's works on the projects prioritised by the government
as projects of national pride have been disappointing. Among various 21
projects of national pride being implemented by various ministries, the
progress of four projects is zero. Only one project which has made
maximum progress has 41 per cent of its works completed in this fiscal.
According to the progress report publicized by Chairman of the
Parliament's Development Committee Rabindra Adhikari today, 41.18 per
cent of works have been completed on the Pushpalal Mid-hilly roadway.
The projects which have zero progress so far are expansion of Bhairahawa
Airport, Pashupati Area Development Trust, construction of
international airport in Bara and West-Seti Hydropower Project. Works on
Melamchi drinking Water Project, considered fast paced, are only 6.83
per cent complete, while 33.33 per cent of works on Tamakoshi Hydropower
Project have been completed.
