Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee has approved all five names recommended for appointment in the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority CIAA. The Committee's meeting has unanimously approved recommended names Dip Basnyat, Nabin Kumar Ghimire, Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi, Rajnarayan Pathak and Dr. Sabitri Gurung for appointment at the Commission. Basnyat, Ghimire and Joshi are former secretaries whereas Pathak is former sub-Attorney General. Gurung is professor at the Tribhuwan University. Constitutional Council had recommended the five names on the basis of political parties' division. At the Committee's meeting, they opined that improvement in investigation method, control of corruption, and willpower and commitment from political parties to aid accomplishment of the Commission's responsibility among others were necessary to make the Commission's action effective. As per the provision, they will now be appointed by the president.
