Consumption of poison kills 6 family members
Consumption of poisoned wheat bread has claimed lives of six members of a
same family and taken ill 11 villagers, all from Pida VDC Ward No. 8-
Pukun, Dhading. The deceased have been identified as 62-year-old Sanja
Bahadur Syangtan, his daughter-in-law Fulmaya, 7-year-old grand-daughter
Sabita, and three grand-sons 5-year-old Ramesh, 5-year-old Arjun and
2-year-old Anil Syangtan. Three among the deceased breathed their last
while undergoing treatment at hospital, while the rest passed at their
home. The unfortunate incident is said to have occurred due to consuming
of bread made of wheat that was stored as seeds. The villagers lost
their lives by consuming the wheat bread from the grains that were
treated with fertilizers as a measure of protection from pests. However,
it was informed that the wheat treated with pesticides was washed
before taking it to the mill. Mill owner Tilak Bahadur Dong, who had
taken the flour as an alternate payment for crushing wheat, along with
four members of his family, brother Ri Bahadur Dong and six neighbors,
have also fallen sick after consuming the same. They are currently
undergoing treatment at Gajuri Hospital.
