In the backdrop of political parties
intensifying in-depth talks on the mandate of constitution endorsement,
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has expressed belief on coming out with a
concrete outcome very soon. Speaking at a programme held to mark the
laying of the foundation to Non- Residential Nepalis' Association NRNA's
central office building in the capital today, Prime Minister Koirala
said the allegation that the political leadership had been unsuccessful
was baseless. He opined that there was no alternative to commitment of
all political forces for promulgation of a democratic constitution, and
establishing peace, stability, democracy and development in Nepal. He
also urged the other parties to move ahead by relinquishing the methods
of issuing threats and intimidation. Saying conducive environment for
investment had already been created, he called on non-residential
Nepalis to start investing in the country. BITE... Similarly, Chairman
of Constituent Assembly Subash Nemwang blamed the delay in endorsing the
constitution to not the inability of the political parties, but their
lax in working towards it. He said no other side was capable of making
the constitution if not the leaders. BITE... Likewise, CPN-UML General
Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel said his party was ready to sacrifice
everything but would not, in any circumstance, accept any proposition
that would infringe the social harmony and national unity. Also speaking
at the programme, President of NRNA Shesh Ghale said all
non-residential Nepalis were keen on becoming stakeholders for the
prosperity of the country. It is learnt a commitment for investment of
190 million rupees has already been received for the building to be
constructed on a compound spread over 3 ropanis of land.
