Life in eastern hilly districts
Life in eastern hilly districts of the country has been affected due to
the rain along with snowfall. Upper regions of districts including
Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Terhathum and Sankhuwasava have witnessed
thick snowfall. Other regions have seen rainfall with wind gushes. The
change in weather condition with summer due very soon has resulted in
drop in temperature. Locals in the upper regions have informed that the
rain and storms have made it difficult for animal husbandry while
farmers in other regions suffering from drought have benefited with the
rain. Snowfall has also affected life at Bhalugaidey of Pathibhara
region in Taplejung. Consistent snowfall has been occurring in hilly
villages of Olangchunggola for the last three days. More than two feet
of snow has frozen in Dhunsha. DSP Shantiraj Koirala informed that up to
three feet of snow has frozen in Olangchunggola and upper regions of
Pathibhara. Meanwhile, places including tourist area of Sankhuwasava,
Gufa Bazaar along with Chauki and Mangalbare have been covered with
snow.
