Nepali Congress and CPN-UML
Senior leaders of ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML are set to show
flexibility on their 9-point report pertaining to the debated
constitutional issues presented at the Constituent Assembly and sit for
talks with the opposition Front. The meeting of the senior leaders of
the two parties held today at Baluwatar has decided to begin talks with
the opposition immediately in order to seek agreement on the contentious
constitutional issues. Concluding that the deferment of the Constituent
Assembly meeting could not be prolonged forever, the meeting has
decided to hold relevant dialogue with the opposition. BITE... The CA
meeting has been postponed indefinitely owing to the rift between the
ruling and opposition forces on the debated issues of the constitution.
The bone of contention among these issues happens to be that of
federalism. Though the parties have been holding talks at the informal
level, officials talks have not been held save once after the CA meeting
was deferred indefinitely.
