Rape case

Demonstration was held today as well in Bara demanding stern action against Kanahai Gupta of Kalaiya, Municipality, Ward no. 4, who is accused of raping 6-year-old Puja Sah, which led to the latter's demise in the aftermath of the incident. The protest called by Save Daughter Struggle Committee was staged at Bharat Chowk by placing Sah's body at the protest area. The demonstration also witnessed clashes between protesters and police personnel, in which a few protesters were injured when police baton charged the crowd. The clash ensued after protesters picketed the district police office and administration office. Women protesters also demonstrated by sweeping brooms in front of the District Administration Office. The agitators have been demanding installation of CCTV cameras at the Kalaiya town area, compensation of 1 million rupees to the victim's family and the accused to be hanged to death. The agitators had also halted vehicular movement in the area. Puja Sah, who had suddenly gone missing on February 20, was found in an unconscious state behind the house of Maksud Ansari the next day. She passed two weeks later while undergoing treatment at Kanti Children's Hospital in Kathmandu.
