Truth and Reconciliation Commission
The Unified CPN-Maoist and CPN-Maoist have voiced alarm at the same time
over the decision made by the Supreme Court a few days ago pertaining
to the newly formed Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission
for Inquiry into Enforced Disappearance. Jointly issuing a press
communique' today, Chairman of Unified-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal
'Prachanda' and CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya have stated that the
apex court's ruling that the cases of the conflict period would be
relevant with criminal law and general court procedures would be against
the peace agreement. They have also demanded the revocation of the SC's
ruling. The press release demands the cases of the conflict period sub-
judice at the government bodies and National Human Rights Commission be
forwarded to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in their existing
states. It states that the peace agreement could be breached and the
country could again head to conflict if the conflict related cases are
not immediately sent to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
