World Tuberculosis day

The globally observed World Tuberculosis Day was marked in Nepal as well today by organising various programmes. At a programe organised with this year's theme for the day- "Find TB. Treat TB. Working together to eliminate TB."- on the occasion by the Health Ministry in the capital today, speakers including Health Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha, Director General of Health Service Department Senendra Raj Upreti among others said all sides had to make efforts from their respective sectors to address the problems of remaining 10 thousand patients of the illness. Every year, on 24 March, the world marks World TB Day (WTBD), one of the world's top health challenges with 9 million new TB cases and the deaths of nearly 1.5 million people each year. The Day is an occasion to mobilize political and social commitment for further progress towards eliminating TB as a public health burden.
