Continuous days of strike cripples life in the far-western region

Strike enforced with demand to keep intact the Far-western region when going for federalism was in effect for the fourth straight day today. Although the strike has crippled life more in kailali and Kancnhanpur, its partial effect is being seen in all 9 districts of the far-west region. Local residents of the far-west region have resorted to agitation to pressure the political leaders to keep the region undivided. The protesters, who have hit the streets warning of rejecting a constitution that did not address the feedback of the people on the constitution draft and went against the spirit of the people, have further threatened that the agitation could twist into a violent mode if there was any attempt to divide the far-west region. They have been demanding a constitution with clear demarcation and names of federal units the capitals of which will have to be decided through referendum. Although the political parties have agreed to address the demand for an undivided far-western region last night, residents of the region have not officially called off their strike yet. Elsewhere, Tharu Welfare Association has also continued their strike being enforced with the demand to include Kailali and Kanchanpur in the Tharuwan state. Daily life of people has been hit hard by the continuous days of strike. Transport, business and institutions have been completely shut in the far-west region due to the closure.
