Strike enforced in Baglung district in protest of districts' division

Strike has been enforced in Baglung district citing its division in the consensus on federal demarcation forged among the four major political parties. All the political parties active in the district, social organizations and industrialists and entrepreneurs have called strike in the district for indefinite period. The strike has been called in protest of excluding Dhorpatan in western Baglung, from state no.4 and categorizing it under state 5 whereas Dhaulagiri, Gandaki and Lumbini among other 11 districts have been included in the former. Local leaders have also warned against dividing states forcefully without understanding the denizen's opinion. Market, vehicular movement, educational institutions and factories were closed for the whole day today due to the strike. Meanwhile, lawmakers representing Dhaulagiri zone, expressing discontent over zonal division, have submitted memorandum to the Dialogue Committee. 14 lawmakers from the zone have also met senior leaders and expressed their dissatisfaction.
