Nepal register impressive first victory in SAF Under-16 Football

Nepal have made a winning start to the 3rd SAF Under-16 Football ongoing in Bangladesh. Nepal registered an impressive first victory at the scoreline of 5-nil easily seeing off their opponents Maldives in the match played at Silhet Stadium. The Nepali team, which was on an attacking mode right from the beginning, took an early lead with Laxman Pariyar's netting in the 3rd minute of the game. The lead was improved by goals from Prizen Tamang and Suman Aryal in the 18th and 21st minutes respectively. In continuation of their attacking play in the second half as well, the Nepali players upped their lead of 3-nil till the interval with Prizen Tamang's second goal in the 50th minute. Suman Aryal came back on the goal scorers list with a second netting seconds before the end of the match, sealing Nepal's win at 5-0. Today's triumph has strengthened Nepal's prospect of reaching the semi-finals. Nepal will take on Afghanisthan in its last group match on Friday. Nepal is alongside Maldives and Afghanisthan in Group B in the tournament being participated by six countries of the South Asian Federation. Organisers Bangladesh, India and Maldives make up Group A, while Bhutan and Pakistan have stayed out of the competition. The first and second editions of the tournament before this were held in Nepal. Nepal had come out third in the first edition claimed by Pakistan, while they were runners-up to India in the second edition.
