Skeletal remains of people gone missing in Langtang avalanches after major earthquake sighted
The course of discovering bodies of people who went missing in the series of avalanches triggered by the major earthquake of April 25 and its aftershocks in Langtang region in Rasuwa is still underway. However, it is a difficult job to hand over the skeletal remains of the bodies to the relatives of the victims. Though skeletal remains have been sighted, it has been a problem to collect them with impossibility of helicopter flights due to adverse weather condition, according to Rasuwa Police DSP Prabin Pokhrel. BITE... Skeletal remains of 17 people who had gone missing in the avalanches in Rasuwa's Langtang after the massive earthquake and its aftershocks have been sighted in the debris. According to information provided by the locals, the bodies which could not been found before despite extensive search works are now visible in different places with melting of the snow, informed DSP Pokhrel. He opined that given there is improvement in weather condition, the human remains can be handed over to the relatives after conducting DNA tests. 134 people have been missing in Rasuwa after the devastating earthquake triggered avalanches and landslides in the district, of who, 105 are missing in Langtang region alone, according to District Police Office, Rasuwa.
