Death toll from yesterday's bus accident in Rasuwa reaches 36; 30 identified; Injured to receive free treatment


Families of people killed in the bus accident that took place at Graang of Rasuwa yesterday have claimed the bodies of the deceased today. The local administration has identified 30 victims of the mishap and handed over the bodies to their family members. However, six of the victims are yet to be identified. The joint meeting of political parties and security bodes held in the district has decided to give Rs. 25,000 each to the families of the deceased as expense for performing the last rites. It is learnt that Pasang Lhamu Transport Entrepreneurs Committee will bear the cost of treatment of the injured. Thirty six people had died in the bus accident that took place at Graang of Rasuwa yesterday. According to District Police Office, Rasuwa, 29 people had died on the spot whereas four died while undergoing treatment at Rasuwa Hospital and Trishuli Hospital. More than 35 others were injured in the mishap. The bus with registration no. Ba 3 Kha 5706 met with the accident while heading towards Chilime from Kathmandu yesterday afternoon. The fatal mishap was attributed to overloading of passengers due to shortage of fuel.
