Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa informs international community about Nepal's volatile situation


Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa has informed the international community about the seriously volatile situation Nepal is reeling under at present. Submitting his report at the 23d Universal Periodic Review pertaining to United Nations' human rights, Foreign Minister Thapa apprised the meeting about the overall situation of human rights in Nepal. Informing about the conditions of human rights before and after the promulgation of constitution, he said Nepal was adopting the international laws adding he would present facts that showed that the Nepali government was headed towards the same. Albeit members at the meeting were made aware about the current crisis in Nepal, he stopped short from blaming India in specific for the problem. He however mentioned that the disruption in imports from India had led to humanitarian crisis in Nepal. He drew attention of the meeting towards taking seriously the problems being faced by least developed and landlocked countries while discussing human rights issues of different countries. Foreign Minister Thapa stated that the transport obstruction existing under the pretext of Nepal's domestic politics had thrown the normal life of Nepali people into disorder. He said that Nepal was able to solve its internal problems itself.
