CPN maoist withdraws support from the government
Earlier today, CPN-Maoist Centre
announced withdrawal of its support from the government. With the latest
move of the party, the Maoist Centre also pulled out of the government.
The official declaration to this regard was made amid a press
conference organised in the capital today. With its resignation, the
CPN-Maoist Centre had also urged Prime Minister K. P. Oli to pave way
for formation of a new government. Speaking at the press
gathering, Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara claimed that Nepali
Congress had already committed to formation of a government under Puhspa
Kamal Dahal in a written form. He said Dahal would assume the helm for
some time in the first phase. It is learnt the Maoist Centre and
Nepali Congress have been holding discussions on seeking agreement by
bringing the agitating Madheshi parties to the government as well. The
Maoist Centre has already informed President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and
Prime Minister Oli about its withdrawal of support to the government.
They have submitted letters to the president and prime minister
informing about its decision to pull out of the government. The letter
sent to the prime minister states that the non-implementation of the
9-point agreement and the 3-point gentleman's agreement had led to
complications in staying in the government politically. The decision of
Maoist Centre has put the future of K. P. Oli led government in a
crisis.
