Nepal's economy affected by the scrapping of 500 and 1000 ICs
The Indian government's decision to scrap Indian currency notes of 500 and 1,000 denominations has affected Nepali nationals as well. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's shocking move of scrapping the 500 and 1,000 IC notes to curb black money, corruption and counterfeit has had effect in the international level as well. Workers returning to Nepal from India are confused on what to do after the exchange counters at the border areas of Kanchanpur and Kailali among other districts refused to exchange their money of 500 and 1,000 denominations. The latest development has affected Nepali workers in other districts including Darchula, Baitadi, and Dadeldhura as well.
