Biplove strike affects normal life


The strike called by CPN-Maoist led by Netra Bikram Chand has affected normal life outside the valley. The bandh was called demanding food security. Educational institutions, markets and shops were closed from early morning, while public and private vehicles stayed off the roads. Security personnel were mobilised in major places of the Valley to prevent inconvenient activities. People were forced to walk to their destination. A group of youths, who identified themselves as cadres of the party, set ablaze a factory belonging to Sarthak Foot Product in Pipira, Birendranagar-13, said the factory proprietor Tekraj Khatri. He claimed that the loss amounts to Rs1.2 million.Police said that they are investigating the incident. Similarly, life in Jajarkot, Pokhara and Biratnagar has also been affected due to the bandh.
Police have arrested more than 113 bandh enforcers from different places of the Valley.
