PM Prachanda gives word on constitution amendment
Prime Minister Puhspa Kamal Dahal has given word on tabling the proposal on constitution amendment at the Legislature Parliament soon. Accepting the memorandum of the Federal Alliance at the prime minister's office at Singh Durbar today, Prime Minister Dahal assured the disgruntled leaders that the amendment proposal will be tabled at the House. He also apprised the leaders of the Alliance about the discussions he has held with other political parties regarding the stature amendment. The leaders of the Alliance have however served an ultimatum of 15 days to the prime minister to table the proposal, and warned of agitation if there was delay in doing so. They drew attention of the PM saying there would be no alternative to agitation if the proposal was not presented adhering to the 3-point agreement reached with them. The government has made preparations to address the demands of the dissatisfied parties by making amendments to constitutional issues of border demarcation of federal units, citizenship, representation at the National Assembly, and use of official language. The Madheshi Front has however been demanding amendment as per the 11-point demand it has submitted to the government.
