Government decides to issue NRs 5 Million to Sujata Koirala

The government has decided to provide financial support of Rs 5 million to Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala for her treatment. Koirala has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. The decision was made in contrary to Health Ministry's proposal to set the ceiling for medical expenses to state VIPs at Rs1.5 million. Today's cabinet meeting made the decision under the recommendation of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi. Meanwhile, Koirala has left for Singapore for further treatment today. She had demanded Rs10 million from government for the purpose. Sources has informed that her cancer is in the first stage. A statement issued by the PM’s Secretariat about the meeting today, however, does not mention anything about this decision.
