Wildfire in Dhankuta burns 2 houses
At least 2 houses and 4 cowsheds have been burnt down after the wildfire in Jal Kanya Community Forest of Dhankuta municipality-9 entered the settlement. The forest, ahead of Mulghaat market area, caught the fire at around 2 pm Tuesday. According to District Police Office, Dhankuta, houses of Mukh Jit Rai and Maan Bahadur Rai of Maang Daada, Dhankuta-9 were burnt down after the uncontrollable wild fire entered the settlement due to wind. Along with the houses, cowsheds and around one dozen of domestic animals were damaged. Chief of District Police Office, Dhankuta Sudip Rajbhandari informed that the fire caused loss of more than Rs. 34 million. Dozens of houses are in risk as the fire is not being able to be controlled. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Janapath Police have reached the place to take the situation under control. Meanwhile, Paatle Saanne and Mulbaari Community Forest of Dhankuta municipality ward no 10 and Chathar Sibhuwa Taakhlaakharkha community forest of Jorpati rural municipality have also caught the fire.
