World record set by 75000 Nepalese in Tundikhel
In an attempt to set a world record, thousands of people assembling in Tudhikhel, Kathmandu have recited Gautam Budhha's teachings, the 'Dhamma-Pad' in a single unified voice. Budhha's words and teachings 'Dhamma-Pad' was recited in the open space of Tudhikhel in Kathmandu amid a program organised by the World Record Council of Nepal to set record in the Guinness Book of World Records. In a program titled 'Budhha was born in Nepal', people from all around the nation assembled in Kathmandu to recite the teachings of Buddha. It was said that the program was organised with the objective of reflecting nationality and national pride and to set a new world record in Nepal's name by breaking the earlier world record. Before this, the world record is registered in India's name. India's Art of Living Foundation had set the earlier record in 2014 organising a program where 46 thousand 660 people assembled together to recite a poem. The program organised in Nepal is however yet to be recognised officially by the Guinness Book. Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli and CPN-MC chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, former cabinet chairperson Khilraj Regmi among other prominent personalities also participated in the record setting program. The program organisers have claimed that 75 thousand people had entered the venue with valid pass whereas around same number of people were also present without valid passes.
