Home Minister Bamdev Gautam has expressed discontent on the lack of
support from the victims of the recent acid attack that took place in
Basantapur of the Capital. Speaking at the meeting of Parliamentary
State Management Committee, he said that the police were engaged in
consistent search for the culprits by collecting various evidences, but
that the same was proving difficult due to lack of support from the
victims. The Home Minister claimed that the police were now very close
to arresting the perpetrator. Referring to a different case, he informed
that the health condition of the rape victim in Bara was growing
complicated. BITE...
Parliamentarians in the meeting had expressed suspicion of political
protection to the guilty in the case from Bara. Likewise,
Parliamentarians opined that the police had been unable to perform well
due to unnecessary political intervention. Home Minister Gautam remarked
that there was a trend of even the Parliamentarians carrying the list
of police transfers and promotions. He also noted the assault on police
at Baneshwor during the power display of opposition forces a couple of
days ago. The meeting was also attended by Parliamentarian Ram Janam
Chowdhary from MJF-Democratic - a party from the 30-party opposition
front.
