At a time when news about a woman being the first victim of swine flu is
being publicized, Minister for Health and Population Khagaraj Adhikari
has claimed that no one has died of the swine flu virus. Speaking at a
programme organised by the Reporters' Club in the capital today,
Minister Adhikari said the 50-year-old woman had passed away at Model
Hospital not because of swine flu, but pneumonia. BITE...
Informing that the stock of medicines for swine flu was sufficient for
the next one and a half months, he urged the concerned bodies not to
cause panic among the people. Informing the country's experts and
foreign donors about the ongoing discussion on possible risk reduction
and assistance, he stressed against terming the current problem as an
epidemic. He also said that private hospitals and people's health
offices of the districts had been urged to provide assistance in
treatment.
