Meanwhile, health condition has deteriorated for Dr. Govinda KC, who has
been staging a fast-unto-death for the last six days. Dr. KC has been
given oxygen with increasing pain in the chest and head, and his blood
pressure is on a rapid decline, according to doctors. Despite his
worsening health condition, Dr. KC has reiterated his stance on not
calling off the hunger-strike until his demands are addressed.
Meanwhile, in support to Dr. KC's cause, doctors at Teaching Hospital
have halted services at the Out-patient Department. Residential doctors
are saying the move was to pile pressure on the government. Dr. KC has
been staging his fifth fast-unto-death protest since Sunday with a
10-point demand including prohibiting affiliation to colleges sans
required infrastructures, formulation of a clear medical policy, and
easy access to medical service and education among others. He has taken
to protest again after the government failed to implement the agreement
it had reached with him in the past.
