Revelation has come to fore showing rampant irregularities while leasing the shutters meant for commercial purpose of Prithvi Chandra District Hospital in the headquarters of Nawalparasi. The revelation on irregularities has surfaced after some people who had got the contractual agreement to take the shutters on lease handed over the shutters to other people to operate shops as a trend of dual-lease. The underlying truth that these people have been collecting rent worth double the actual lease amount from these shop operators is testament to suspicious activities that have been taking place in the transactions of rent amount. However, the hospital management, even with this fact in knowledge, has so far kept mum on the matter. People aware of the malpractice opine that the activities are continuing in collaboration of the hospital management itself. The rent amount of the 24 shutters in the building built 15 years ago has not been increased till date. While the rent of other shutters at Buddha Chowk amounts to Rs.5,000-12,000 per month, the hospital has only been collecting 3,500 for each of its shutters.
