The meeting among senior leaders of four major parties called by the
Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Nembang, has ended on an
inconclusive note after the parties did not show flexibility from their
respective stances. The meeting called by the CA Chair at his own office
in Singhadurbar today was participated by leaders of parties including
Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Unified CPN-Maoist and Madhesi party among
others. Albeit opposition and ruling parties had said they had agreed to
forge consensus at principle level, they were firm on their stances
regarding internal matters. Saying the parties had failed to forge
consensus on those issues despite the long duration, Nembang urged the
parties to forge consensus on internal contents at the earliest or reach
consensus on adopting set procedure. Although leaders of ruling parties have stated that they are in favour
of forging consensus, they have also made clear that consensus cannot be
reached separating Terai and Hilly regions
