Government finally requests India to ease supplies; Expresses commitment to address demands of Madhesh-centerd parties


The government has officially requested the Indian government to ease supplies across the Indo-Nepal border points. Talking with media persons after the meeting, Minister for Information and Communication Technology Sher Dhan Rai said that the cabinet meeting held today decided to request India to help ease the supplies of goods including medicines, cooking gas and fuel. The Cabinet meet also urged the southern neighbour to strengthen ties between Nepal and India.
Meanwhile, the meeting has also urged the agitating Madhes-centric parties to seek solutions to their demands through dialogues. Saying that the government has already initiated process for treatment to the injured, withdrawal of fake charges lodged against the arrested protestors, and implementation of decision to compensate bereaved family members with one million rupees, the council of ministers urged the protestors to end blockade at border points as festivals like Tihar, Chhath and Lhosar are at the door. The Parliament meeting has been postponed for November 22 after lawmakers of various Madhes-based parties continued the obstruction today as well. Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli expanded his Cabinet today again, inducting two state ministers and two assistant ministers. Now, the Cabinet strength is 30.
