The team of Nepali athletes set to
participate in the 2016 Olympics to be held in the Brazilian city of Rio
de Janeiro was bade farewell by Nepal Olympic Committee today. Amid a
programme organised in the capital today, the Committee saw off the
Nepali Olympic team of seven athletes and five coaches. The Nepali
team's chef de mission and Member Secretary of the National Sports
Council Keshav Bista will be leading the team set to take part in the
global games scheduled to begin next week. The Nepali participants who
will be vying in the global games include Hari Kumar Rimal and Saraswati
Bhattarai towards athletics, Shirish Gurung and Gaurika Singh towards
swimming, judoki Phupu Lhamu Khatri, Nisha Rawal towards taekwondo, and
Jit Bahadur Moktan towards archery. Besides Gaurika and Moktan, rest of
the athletes in the team are affiliated with the army. Similarly,
coaches guiding the players in the Olympic Games include Sangina Baidhya
towards taekwondo, Ishwor Karki towards swimming, Pushpa Ojha towards
athletics, Debu Chaudhary towards judo, and Dipak Raj Gurung towards
archery. A 30-member Nepali team will be embarking to Rio de Janeiro.
