Reason behind 10th Hunger strike of Govinda KC

Senior orthopaedic surgeon at TU teaching Hospital Dr Govinda KC has staged yet another fast-unto-death saying the TU has appointed Dean at Institute of Medicine in the Hospital which is a decision against basis of seniority. This is Dr KC's 10th hunger strike who has been staging repetitive fast-unto-deaths demanding reforms in sector of medicine.
Holding a press conference this evening, Dr. KC said the appointment of Prof Dr Keshab Prasad Singh as the Dean is a decision against the rule of seniority and has demanded immediate correction in the decision. He has also demanded cancellation of appointment of TU Vice-Chancellor Tirtha Khaniya saying he tried to manipulate the appointment process.
He also demanded that tuition fees for MBBS and BDS be implemented as of last year’s, and new medical colleges be granted affiliation only after the enactment of new Medical Education Act. He also urged the government to reform the Judicial Investigation Commission to investigate into the examination frauds and anomalies at different universities including the BP Koirala Institute of Medical Sciences. He demanded that the Parliament conclude the impeachment process against Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lok Man Singh Karki whereas another Commissioner Raj Narayan Pathak be also be booked for their alleged role in meddling medical education here.
