Mahara elected as Speaker of House of Representatives
CPN Maoist Center leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been elected unopposed to the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives. CPN Maoist Center leader Mahara being the only candidate for the post of speaker, was elected unopposed. He filed his candidacy arriving at the Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwor. Mahara filed candidacy on proposal of CPN-UML leader Subash Chandra Nembang. He was endorsed by CPN-MC's Dev Gurung. Major opposition party Nepali Congress decided not to file candidacy at all. Speaking after filing his candidacy leader Mahara said that the federal parliament has the task of forming many laws in its way ahead and the same would be his priority. He expressed commitment to gather consensus with all parties on proceeding with the federal procedures.
