Province 2 stated at worst state of maternity health

A survey has shown that Province number 2 rates the worst in the whole country regarding the state of maternity health. The data showing the statistics of poor maternity health in Province 3 was made public by the United Nations Population Fund during a program organised by the same in Janakpurdham. Program participants expressed grave concern on the issue of poor maternity health saying it was a result of the unwanted pregnancies that most women have to go through irrespective of their desire. The participants in the program put forward demands to increase investment towards women's health sector to improve the state of deteriorating maternity health. Lubna Baqi, Country Representative of the United Nations Population Fund, for Nepal said although budget has been appropriated for maternity health, its mobilization however has not been effective.
